jazakumAllahu khayr for this. How does one remove the bacteria of jealousy from their hearts? - even if it comes in small amounts, one feels it could slowly destroy them from inside, and destroy the blessings around them if not dealt with immediately. Through dua and dhikr, Allah’s help is sought, yet the poison remains and one is afraid it will be detrimental to any chance of salvation with such an ugly sin inside.
Your du’as are humbly requested in this matter.
Being jealous is when a person wants Allah (swt) to take away or withhold a bounty from another person. The actual cause of jealousy is takabbur (pride). So the person involved in jealousy should first try to get rid of takabbur (pride) and practice tawazzu (humbleness).
A practical approach along with dua and dhikr is important. The remedy of jealousy is by praising the person against whom the jealousy is directed. Praise that person, talk about his/her qualities no matter how difficult it may seem on the nafs. Greet him/her with respect and provide a service to him/her with humility or give them a gift. Insha’Allah your jealousy will diminish.
